Joint venture combines TEIA’s smart factory technologies with GEM’s data and AI capabilities to improve productivity, optimize costs, enhance quality, and strengthen manufacturers’ competitiveness.
On October 21, 2026, GEM Corporation (GEM) and South Korea-based TEIA Co., Ltd. signed an agreement in Hanoi to establish NEXUS AIM, a joint venture that will distribute, localize, and implement the NOVA and LUMEN platforms for manufacturers in Vietnam, with plans to expand across the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region.

By connecting factory data and integrating artificial intelligence (AI) into operations, NEXUS AIM will help manufacturers progressively automate production processes and move toward autonomous smart factories.
From Smart Factories to Autonomous Operations
NEXUS AIM brings together data connectivity, artificial intelligence (AI), and operational technology (OT) security in an integrated technology ecosystem. NOVA establishes the factory data foundation and digital twin, while LUMEN applies AI agents and edge AI to detect anomalies, support decision-making, and respond locally. This enables factories to move from manual monitoring toward proactive operations with minimal human intervention.
The model targets three core outcomes: higher productivity, optimized costs, and improved product quality. These are pursued by reducing unplanned downtime, minimizing material waste and defective products, and detecting defects earlier to help trace their root causes.
The joint venture builds on TEIA’s practical experience in the automotive industry. Its SmartTag system has been deployed at Kia plants since 2018 and at Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America in the United States in 2024. In 2025, TEIA was certified by the Korea Evaluation Institute of Industrial Technology (KEIT) as a specialized AI Factory company.
NEXUS AIM enables manufacturers to start with production processes where improvements can be clearly measured, then expand applications according to each factory’s needs and readiness – progressing toward connected, self-optimizing production powered by data and AI.
NOVA and LUMEN: Deployment Tailored to Each Factory
NEXUS AIM offers two core technology platforms, NOVA and LUMEN. Manufacturers can deploy either platform independently or combine both, depending on their operational challenges and digital transformation roadmap.
NOVA connects data from equipment and production lines with enterprise resource planning (ERP) and manufacturing execution systems (MES), enabling end-to-end visibility across factory operations. Using real-time location systems (RTLS) and digital twin technology, NOVA tracks the locations of materials, equipment, and personnel and visualizes operational status. Key applications include quality control, process traceability, safety monitoring, and material-flow management.
LUMEN integrates AI agents, edge AI, digital twins, and OT cybersecurity solutions into the manufacturing environment. It processes data directly at the factory to meet the low-latency requirements of industrial applications. Its microservices architecture allows manufacturers to select and scale capabilities at each stage of automation and integrate technologies from the edge AI ecosystem, including solutions from NVIDIA.

Combined Strengths of the Parent Companies
TEIA brings experience in developing solutions for manufacturing environments, spanning shop-floor equipment and management software to the integration of operational technology (OT) and information technology (IT). This expertise enables NEXUS AIM to address factory-specific requirements for data, processes, and operational visibility.
GEM contributes technology development and implementation capabilities across data, AI, and systems integration, as well as the ability to adapt solutions for global markets. GEM’s engineering team helps integrate NEXUS AIM solutions with customers’ existing systems, develop applications tailored to their needs, and provide ongoing operational support.

A Roadmap Toward Autonomous Factories
Nguyen Thanh Cong, Deputy CEO of GEM Corporation and CEO of NEXUS AIM, said: “NEXUS AIM will follow three stages: connecting data to provide clear visibility into factory conditions; applying AI to predict incidents and optimize operations; and then gradually enabling systems to self-adjust once processes are stable. The final stage will be built on TEIA’s Software-Defined Factory (SDF) platform, which is expected to launch in 2027.”

This model can help manufacturers increase productivity, keep production lines running more continuously, reduce operational risks and workplace accidents, and lessen dependence on labor availability. Initially, NEXUS AIM will focus on developing reference projects in Vietnam, creating a foundation for expansion into ASEAN and other APAC markets.

NEXUS AIM은 데이터 연결, 인공지능(AI), 운영기술(OT) 보안을 하나의 통합 기술 생태계로 결합한다. NOVA는 공장 데이터 기반과 디지털 트윈을 구축하고, LUMEN은 AI 에이전트와 엣지 AI를 활용해 이상 징후를 감지하고 의사결정을 지원하며 현장에서 즉각 대응할 수 있도록 한다. 이를 통해 공장은 수동 모니터링 중심에서 벗어나 사람의 개입을 최소화하는 능동적 운영 체계로 단계적으로 전환할 수 있다.
이 모델은 생산성 향상, 비용 최적화, 품질 개선이라는 세 가지 핵심 목표를 지향한다. 비계획 가동 중단을 줄이고 자재 낭비와 불량품을 최소화하며, 결함을 조기에 감지해 원인을 추적함으로써 이를 실현한다.
합작법인의 기술 역량은 TEIA가 자동차 산업에서 축적한 실제 구축 경험을 기반으로 한다. TEIA의 SmartTag 시스템은 2018년부터 기아 공장에 적용됐으며, 2024년에는 미국 현대자동차그룹 메타플랜트 아메리카(Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America)에 구축됐다. 2025년 TEIA는 한국산업기술평가관리원(KEIT)으로부터 AI 팩토리 전문기업 인증을 받았다.
NEXUS AIM은 개선 효과를 명확하게 측정할 수 있는 공정부터 시작해 각 공장의 요구와 준비 수준에 따라 적용 범위를 확대한다. 이를 통해 데이터와 AI 기반의 연결형·자율 최적화 생산 체계로 단계적으로 나아갈 수 있도록 지원한다.
공장별 요구에 맞춘 NOVA와 LUMEN
NEXUS AIM은 두 가지 핵심 기술 플랫폼인 NOVA와 LUMEN을 제공한다. 제조기업은 운영 과제와 디지털 전환 로드맵에 따라 각 플랫폼을 독립적으로 도입하거나 두 플랫폼을 함께 활용할 수 있다.
NOVA는 설비와 생산라인 데이터를 전사적자원관리(ERP) 및 제조실행시스템(MES)과 연결해 공장 운영 전반의 가시성을 높인다. 실시간 위치추적 시스템(RTLS)과 디지털 트윈 기술을 활용해 자재, 설비, 작업자의 위치를 추적하고 운영 상태를 시각화한다. 주요 활용 분야는 품질 관리, 공정 추적, 안전 모니터링, 자재 흐름 관리 등이다.
