Background
Imuzik is an online music streaming service offered by the #1 telecom corporation in Vietnam. It has been a fan favorite due to its easy-to-navigate interfaces, cross-platform availability, and dynamic download options.
Its success is the result of its owner’s vision: they recognized the growing competition in the music app market and identified personalization and convenience as the factors they needed to emphasize. Therefore, they reached out to GEM to create a new and modern service for their new, younger users.
Challenges
The assigned products and services that needed automation testing varied from ERP systems and web pages to consumer mobile applications. Each item would require an overall inspection, followed by a specific testing script and a thorough timeline to track the progress.
Another significant challenge that the team encountered was the state of the existing documentation. Much of it was found to be either outdated or inaccurate, so the team had to re-check and create their own guidelines before establishing the test cases.
Furthermore, the project was complicated by issues related to data accessibility. Since the application was connected to multiple data systems, it would be challenging to make data queries and cross-checking.
Solution
GEM’s delivery team tackled the project challenges by designing a system to manage multi-device login and ensure a seamless transition and consistent notifications across devices. A flexible “pay-as-you-go” payment model was integrated to charge users only for their actual usage, with transparent cost confirmation steps.
To improve app performance and speed, we streamlined the confirmation processes and optimized the backend architecture. These innovations not only met but exceeded client expectations by creating a scalable and user-friendly platform.
Output
We successfully launched Imuzik into the market and it almost immediately earned favorable reviews from users with the following key advantages:
- Enabling users to log in and use the app from multiple devices with perfectly synchronized data and experience
- Offering a wide selection of music streaming services
- Providing a pay-as-you-go payment scheme
Impacts
To this day, Imuzik remains one of the most popular mobile apps in Vietnam for music streaming and other entertainment services. With its appealing user interface and stable performance, its subscribers and users have grown steadily.
