JOB DESCRIPTION 

We are looking for a Senior Data Engineer with strong hands-on experience in cloud data engineering, preferably on AWS.

This role will focus on designing, building, and maintaining scalable data pipelines and data platforms to support analytics, reporting, and AI/ML workloads. The candidate will be responsible for ensuring data is reliable, well-modeled, secure, observable, and efficiently delivered to downstream users.

• Design, build, and maintain batch and streaming data pipelines for ingestion, transformation, and loading.
• Develop data pipelines using AWS native services such as Glue, Lambda, – Step Functions, S3, Redshift, Kinesis, and related services.
• Build and optimize data models, including star schema, snowflake schema, data marts, and feature store structures.
• Implement data transformation using SQL, Python, dbt, or similar frameworks.
• Apply data quality, validation, lineage, cataloging, access control, and governance practices across the data platform.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize data pipelines, storage, and processing performance.
• Support reliability, scalability, and cost optimization for production data workloads.
• Collaborate with Data Platform Lead, Senior Data Engineers, Data Analysts, Data Scientists, and Application teams to clarify requirements and deliver scalable technical solutions.
• Contribute to reusable data engineering patterns, CI/CD pipelines, documentation, and platform best practices.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE 

• 4-6 years of hands-on data engineering experience on cloud platforms, preferably AWS.
• Experience building and operating production-grade data pipelines and data models.
• Strong experience with SQL and Python.
• Hands-on experience with AWS data services such as Glue, Lambda, Step Functions, S3, Redshift, Kinesis, or equivalent.
• Experience with Snowflake and/or Amazon Redshift.
• Experience with Kafka or AWS Kinesis for streaming data pipelines.
• Experience with dbt or similar data transformation frameworks.
• Good understanding of data modelling, data warehousing, data marts, and analytics workloads.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and/or CloudFormation.
• Experience with CI/CD tools such as AWS CodePipeline, GitHub Actions, or similar.
• Good understanding of data quality, data governance, metadata management, access control, and observability.
• Ability to troubleshoot data issues, optimise performance, and support production data operations.
• Proficient in English and able to work with onshore/distributed teams.

Preferred Qualifications  

• AWS Certified Data Engineer – Associate or equivalent certification.
• AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate.
• Experience supporting AI/ML data workloads or feature engineering.
• Experience with data cataloging, lineage, and governance tools.
• Experience working in enterprise data platform teams.
• Experience with cost optimization and performance tuning for cloud data platforms.
