Senior Cloud Application Engineer (30% AI Focus)

LOCATION: Ha Noi/ Ho Chi Minh

JOB DESCRIPTION 

GEM is looking for a Senior App & AI Engineer with strong experience in cloud-native application development and AI/ML integration on AWS.

This role will focus on designing, building, and operating scalable applications, APIs, microservices, and AI-powered services. The candidate will work closely with Product Owner, Application Engineers, Data Engineers, and ML Engineers to deliver secure, reliable, and production-ready business capabilities.

  • Design, build, and maintain cloud-native applications, APIs, and microservices on AWS.
  • Develop backend services using Python, .NET, Java, or similar modern application frameworks.
  • Integrate AI/ML capabilities into applications, including generative AI, predictive models, AWS Bedrock, Amazon SageMaker, or custom ML models.
  • Build and maintain REST/GraphQL APIs using AWS API Gateway, Lambda, ECS, EKS, Step Functions, SQS/SNS, RDS, DynamoDB, and related services.
  • Implement CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, deployment automation, and release management.
  • Set up and maintain observability, including logging, metrics, tracing, dashboards, and alerts.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize application and AI service performance, reliability, scalability, and cost in production.
  • Collaborate with Product Owners, Architects, Data Engineering, and ML – – Engineering teams to clarify requirements and translate them into technical designs.
  • Contribute to reusable application patterns, AI integration patterns, documentation, and engineering best practices.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE 

  • 3–5 years of hands-on application engineering experience on cloud platforms, preferably AWS.
  • At least 1–2 years of experience integrating or deploying AI/ML solutions into production applications.
  • Strong backend development experience with Python, .NET, Java, or similar languages.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS services such as Lambda, ECS/EKS, API Gateway, Step Functions, SQS/SNS, RDS, DynamoDB, and CloudWatch.
  • Experience with AWS Bedrock, Amazon SageMaker, or similar AI/ML platforms is highly preferred.
  • Strong experience designing and developing REST and/or GraphQL APIs.
  • Experience with Docker and containerised application deployment.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code, preferably Terraform.
  • Experience with CI/CD tools such as AWS CodePipeline, GitHub Actions, or similar.
  • Good understanding of automated testing, application security, monitoring, logging, tracing, and production support.
  • Ability to troubleshoot production issues and optimise application performance, reliability, and cost.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work with onshore/distributed teams.

PREFERRED

  • AWS Certified Developer – Associate.
  • AWS Certified Machine Learning – Specialty.
  • AWS Certified AI Practitioner, when available.
  • Experience with generative AI applications, LLM integration, RAG, prompt engineering, or AI agent workflows.
  • Experience with MLOps, model deployment, feature services, or AI service monitoring.
  • Experience working in enterprise application or cloud platform teams.

Salary: Up to 60M Gross (Open to Nego)
