JOB DESCRIPTION

We are seeking an experienced Business Development – Senior / Team Lead to drive revenue growth and expand our client base in the Japanese market. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in IT services business development with strong knowledge of the Japanese market and culture. This role requires a passion for building strong client trust and long-lasting relationships. High performers will have opportunities for accelerated career growth and leadership roles within GEM Japan.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Business Growth

  • Identify and develop new business opportunities and client networks to drive revenue growth in Japan

  • Create and implement business strategies and detailed plans to achieve revenue goals

  • Build and maintain a strong project pipeline and manage opportunities through to project hand-off

2. Client Relationship Management

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing clients, ensuring high client satisfaction

  • Proactively identify upselling and cross-selling opportunities

  • Lead client engagement activities, including business trips and events

  • Effectively resolve client issues and complaints in a professional manner

3. Support Team Growth

  • Participate in recruiting, selecting, and training new sales team members alongside leadership

REQUIRED SKILL AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Foreign Trade, Marketing, IT, or related field

  • Native-level Japanese communication ability with JLPT N1 certificate and deep cultural understanding

  • Minimum 4 years’ experience in a similar role and at least 5 years working with Japanese clients in IT outsourcing or related industries

  • Experience preparing business proposals and presentations, proficient with office tools (PowerPoint, Excel, Email, etc.)

  • Strong negotiation, communication, and problem-solving skills

  • Leadership and team management ability

  • Proficient in customer research tools such as networks, forums, social platforms, CRM, digital email marketing

  • Willingness to travel domestically within Japan or Vietnam when required
