Business Analyst (Banking – Data/BI Project)

JOB DESCRIPTION 

GEM is looking for a Business Analyst with strong analytical skills and experience in Data projects within the Banking or Financial Services domain. The ideal candidate is capable of translating business needs into data-driven solutions and collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams in an Agile environment.

  • Gather, analyze, and clarify business requirements from stakeholders.
  • Analyze business processes and data to define requirements for Data solutions.
  • Prepare and maintain Business Requirement Documents (BRD), Functional Specification Documents (FSD), User Stories, and Acceptance Criteria.
  • Collaborate closely with Business stakeholders, Data Engineers, Data Analysts, and Project Managers to ensure accurate implementation of business requirements.
  • Support data mapping, data lineage analysis, and define business rules for ETL/ELT and Data Warehouse solutions.
  • Participate in User Acceptance Testing (UAT), support end users during testing, and validate delivered solutions against business requirements.
  • Manage requirement changes, support backlog refinement, and track implementation progress.
  • Prepare user guides and handover documentation.

Requirements

  • 2–4 years of experience as a Business Analyst in IT projects.
  • At least 1 year of experience working on Data projects in Banking or Financial Services.
  • Solid understanding of Data Warehouse, Data Lake, ETL/ELT, BI Reporting, or Data Analytics.
  • Experience in data analysis, business rule definition, and data mapping.
  • Basic SQL proficiency for data querying and analysis.
  • Hands-on experience with Jira, Confluence, or similar requirements management tools.
  • Strong analytical, communication, documentation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Good English communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Data Platform, Data Governance, Master Data Management (MDM), Data Migration, or Regulatory Reporting projects.
  • Knowledge of banking data models (Customer, CASA, Loan, Card, Transaction, GL, etc.).
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
  • Professional certifications such as PBA, CBAP, ECBA, PSM, or equivalent are a plus.
  • Previous experience working at a bank or large financial institution is preferred.
