JOB DESCRIPTION

We are seeking a Solution Architect to act as the technical authority, system integrator, and engineering leader across complex, large-scale Enterprise SaaS platforms serving a strategic customer. This role is suited for architects with deep experience in regulated, high-complexity domains such as FinTech, HealthTech, Smart Manufacturing, ERP, or Compliance-driven platforms, with HRTech / Payroll as a strong advantage.

You will:

  • Own end-to-end architecture decisions
  • Raise engineering and delivery maturity across multiple project teams
  • Be the final technical decision-maker
  • Actively engage in pre-sales, bidding, and customer technical strategy
  • Lead the evolution toward AI-enabled, compliant, and adaptive Payroll systems
  • You connect technology trends with real business value, are the person engineers trust, teams follow, and customers respect.

Responsibilities

  • Own the overall solution architecture across multiple enterprise SaaS products
  • Architect configuration-driven, regulation-aware platforms
  • Define reference architectures, patterns, and guardrails
  • Make final calls on technology choices, integration strategies, non-functional requirements
  • Act as the highest technical bar for engineers and tech leads
  • Review and challenge architecture designs, critical pull requests, release and branching strategies
  • Step in to build POCs, prototype complex ideas, solve critical technical problems when teams are stuck
  • Establish engineering standards, provide a unified technical direction across multiple teams
  • Ensure teams do not duplicate solutions, share reusable components, align on architecture and integration contracts
  • Drive architecture reviews and decision records (ADR)
  • Anticipate risks early and prevent systemic failures
  • Act as technical lead in pre-sales and bidding phases
  • Write and review technical proposals, architecture sections in bidding documents, solution feasibility and risk analysis
  • Translate customer business problems into concrete technical solutions, roadmaps and POCs
  • Confidently present and defend solutions to customers, product leaders, senior management
  • Proactively drive adoption of modern technologies, especially AI/ML, Agentic AI

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE 

  • Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or higher education preferred. 
  • 10+ years in software engineering, with strong backend focus in Java (must-have) 
  • Experience with distributed systems, multi-tenant SaaS architectures, configuration-driven systems 
  • Background in FinTech, HealthTech, Smart Manufacturing, ERP, or other regulated enterprise systems 
  • Experience in HRTech / Payroll / Compliance platforms is a strong advantage 
  • Strong system-thinking mindset: trade-offs, constraints, long-term maintainability 
  • Proven experience leading multiple teams indirectly 
  • Comfortable challenging engineers, tech leads, and managers 
  • Able to explain complex systems to engineers (deep), to customers and executives (clear & simple) 
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills (architecture docs, bids, proposals) 
  • Ability to learn new products, technologies, and industry trends quickly. 
  • Comfortable presenting to audiences including resources from all levels of organization: business, IT, C-level. 
  • Excellent time and task management skills with ability to prioritize and adapt to re-prioritization as necessary. 
  • Results oriented with a commitment to quality of product and service. 
  • Self-motivated and creative with a natural drive to learn and pick up new challenges. 
  • Proficient in English, ability to communicate in Japanese/Korean is a big plus 

DESIRED SKILLS 

  • ​Experience as software engineer in a complex, enterprise-level development projects
  • Establish software development patterns and best practices via examples and shipping code
  • Develop architectures that are inherently secure, robust, scalable, modular, API-centric and global.
  • Collaborate with business team to develop and clarify requirements to enable development of technical solutions 
  • Provide executive level support for initiatives, particularly as related to re-use, funding requirements and areas of risk
  • Multi-tasking ability essential to handle multiple priorities with minimal direction from management
  • Excellent soft skills: leading client and team discussions, team player, ability to train others
  • Good knowledge & experience in other new technologies e.g. Blockchain, AI, etc.
